Why it’s so important to get involved!

We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Every step counts this May because your steps represent the 280,000 people living with blood cancer in the UK. Help change their lives by taking part and funding vital blood cancer research. So, keep sharing your challenge and have fun! Because it’s time to beat blood cancer.

Sarah’s story

Sarah’s dad David was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in July 2024.

“It’s been a massive shock. In June, dad had completed a 200-mile bike ride for charity at the age of 73, he’s otherwise healthy and super fit. We had no reason to suspect cancer or that he was even unwell.

We’re so used to spending so much time together, however due to not having an immune system we’ve been forced to keep our distance from him at this incredibly tough time. We’re a very close family so it has rocked us all.

Because we can’t be with him physically, we wanted to do something to show our support and raise money for vital blood cancer research. Therefore, as a family we’re taking part in this challenge. We want to show dad we’re with him every step of the way.”
